Wendy MacNaughton City Sketch Kit Available at ARCH

Illustrator Wendy MacNaughton and ARCH have developed a Limited Edition Sketch Kit featuring some of Wendy's favorite art materials as used in her new book, Meanwhile in San Francisco: The City in Its Own Words. It is available exclusively at ARCH for $49.95 (normal retail value of $75) and contains:

-A copy of Meanwhile in San Francisco: The City in Its Own Words
-A 9"x12" Super Deluxe Mixed Media Sketchbook
-A .05mm Sakura Micron Pen
-And a Winsor Newton Cotman Travel Watercolor Set

The kit is packaged in an Otto tote bag, featuring an Otto illustration and lettering by Wendy. We also offer the tote bags on their own for $15.95.

Friday February 21st, ARCH will be hosting it's first community model-sketching event. We will have costumed models posing for you to sketch or paint from. This month we will have San Francisco Bellydance Mama, Jill Parker and Foxglove Sweethearts dance troupe member Karina Tribal-Mexico as models! There will be plenty of unique poses, beautiful inspiration and decadent costumes to be inspired by.

Participants should bring their own supplies and drawing board or you can purchase them here at ARCH. You should feel free to draw or paint, whatever inspires you. No photography please. There will be light refreshments and plenty of inspiration! First session with Jill Parker will begin promptly at 6:00PM and the second session with Karina will begin at 7:00PM.

This is a $5.00 suggested donation event to help cover model fees and we will be offering a discount on art supplies when you donate. We hope to make this a monthly event!

Mepxy Brush Markers

ARCH is pleased to bring in this new line of dual tipped art markers. The Mepxy Brush Marker is an alcohol based art marker available in 123 colors (including a blender) with a chisel tip at one end and a brush tip at the other.

In playing around with the Mepxy markers the highlight for us is the juciness of the brush tip. It allows you to get the paper super saturated with vibrant color. They also stay wet a bit longer, allowing you to push the color around with brushes or pick it back up with the blender.

From this great review from Maria Del Pinto at Craft Critique these markers worked great on multiple surfaces (from paper, to cloth, to tin, etc.) and are toner safe.  Check out her review for more info.
